Atlas on the Biography of the Prophet ﹡ (Places, Nations, Landmarks) is Dr. Shawqi Abu Khalil's geographical companion to the Seerah — a hardcover reference that maps the places Prophet Muhammad ﹡ visited, the battles he fought, and the expeditions and envoys he directed, illustrated throughout with maps, photographs and diagrams. Originally published in Arabic by Dar Al-Fikr in Damascus, this English edition is published by Darussalam.

What This Atlas Covers

Rather than a straightforward narrative biography, this is a geography-first companion to the Seerah: 292 pages tracing the Prophet's ﹡ life chronologically through maps and illustrations rather than text alone — the tribal geography of pre-Islamic Arabia, the route of the Hijrah from Makkah to Madinah, the locations of the major battles (Badr, Uhud, the Trench and others), and the expeditions and diplomatic missions he directed. It's designed to make the places named in the Seerah's own texts, often unfamiliar to readers outside the region, visually concrete.

About the Author

Dr. Shawqi Abu Khalil (1941-2010) was a Palestinian scholar based in Damascus who held a PhD in History and served as professor of Islamic civilization, alongside lecturing in Sharia law. He was Editor-in-Chief at the Dar Al-Fikr publishing house in Damascus from 1991 until his death in 2010. Alongside this atlas, he authored the companion volume Atlas of the Qur'an, also published by Darussalam.

Who This Atlas Is For

This is a strong fit for readers who already know the outline of the Seerah and want to picture where events actually happened, rather than a first introduction to the Prophet's ﹡ life. Its visual format also makes it a popular choice for homeschool and madrasah teachers looking for classroom aids, and its 4-color hardcover presentation works well as a gift.
